The living conditions and Prospects of disabled Children are improved with the support of strengthened NGO sector through prevention, early detection and intervention of inherited
Childhood neuron - metabolic diseases.
Specific Objectives
- Children with disabilities or at risk of disability as well as their Families have better access to improved services and make use of them for prevention, early detection, and intervention.
- The capacity of the key stakeholders (MOSS, MOHP, Hi, CDAs and NGOs) is improved.
- The dialogue between the NGO and other key governmental agencies to enable networking in a facilitative environment is enhanced.
Objective 1:
Child ren with disabilities or at risk of disability as well as their families have better access to improved services and make use of them for prevention, early detection and intervention.
- Data gathering and establishing baseline data.
- Discussion groups on disability and handicap resulting from inherited neuro – metabolic diseases.
- Raising awareness of the public and scientific communities with regard to early detection and prevention of inherited neuro – metabolic diseases.
- Building capacity of staff of primary health care unite, health insurance units and Alexandria University Children’s Hospital with regard to early detection of inherited Child hood neuro – metabolic diseases.
- Empowerment of primary health care units Alexandria, Egypt with regard to preliminary screening for inherited child hood neuro – metabolic diseases.
- Initiation and implementation of central specified unit for diagnosls of inherited childhood neuro – metabolic diseases in Alexandria University Child ren’s Hospital (EL- Shatby) (Location of the Society).
- Initiation of primary intervention and counseling unit for children and families with inherited neuro – metabolic diseases ( in the location of GCS )
- Regular Screening, case detection and referral of index cases for diagnosis, management and early intervention.
- Establishment of parents’ network for strengthening family abilities to cope with problems of affected children and future siblings.
Objective 2:
The capacity of the key stakeholders (MOSS, MOHP, HI, CDAs and NGOs) is improved.
- Capacity building workshops in local community organizations.
- Capacity building workshop in target authorities.
- Lead group identified.
Objective 3:
The dialogue between the NGO and MOSS and other key governmental agencies to enable networking in a facilitative environment is enhanced.
- Workshop with organizations working with disabled children to prepare strategy.
- Workshop with relevant stakeholders on prevention of child hood disability (MOSS, MOHP, HI, Alexandria U niversity).
- Meetings with relevant local authorities.
- Protocol of collaboration with Stakeholders through agreement contract for cooperation.
- Inter – directorate meetings on inherited neuro – metabolic diseases set up.
- Materrials distributed between directorates.
- Workshop with MOHP to establish Stop neuro – metabolic diseases monitoring system.
